Costa Rica’s popular tourist towns, such as Santa Teresa or Montezuma usually have many places to practice yoga, with more added yearly, and these yoga retreat centers compete for which can have the most calming and relaxing place to practice.

Boutique Hotels such as Anamaya in Montezuma, Latitude-10 in Santa Teresa, or La Cusinga Eco Lodge in Dominical, now usually have a  yoga deck with an ocean  view. Costa Rica will for the first time host

Costa Rica will host the first Medical and Well-Being Conference.

The cat is out of the bag for Costa Rica Health. This week the Central American country found out it will host the first Medical and Well-Being Tourism Conference in late April, 2010. This will reunited some 350 plus operators of health services from more than 20 countries, including insurance companies, self-insurance companies, medical tourism and wellness agencies and investors in the industry. Many U.S. insurance companies are taking a hard look at what Costa Rica and other Latin countries are going to offer to help reduce or provide alternative services with the troubled health care in the U.S.

The conference will focus their attention on health centers throughout Latin-American and visit local hospitals, wellness centers and doctors. They will also be very much interested in the growth of online well care services, who offer their expertise in providing medical tourism packages.  Obviously this has gotten much support from government agencies, like the Ministry of Tourism and Ministry of Competitiveness and Regulations Improvement. Both heads of these ministries are excited about the conference.

Medical care is on the rise in Costa Rica

Medical Care is on the rise in the eco-friendly country of Costa Rica

With the increase in people losing their health insurance, Costa Rica medical tourism is now taking up the slack for more than 25,000 people every year. Overwhelmingly Americans, they hop a jet or cruise ship and travel south for Costa Rica. And, more and more travelers are taking vacations to this little Latin American country that include medical tourism. Why? Because they are onto the fact that medical care in Costa Rica is now on par with the best hospitals in the United States but at a shadow of the cost. It is ironic that the wealthiest country in world history is essentially outsourcing medical care of its citizens.

Tico Times Editors Note:  Many Americans are heading To Costa Rica for stem cell treatments and recently, some Costa Rica doctors have been very successful in the  Bariatric (weight loss) surgery using the technique called the gastric sleeve which is a revolutionary new cure for Type 2 diabetes in the non-obese.

Medical Tourism is on the rise in Costa Rica

Every time I’m in Costa Rica it always amazing me of how that country is developing into a First-World country. One of my meetings was about developing a Costa Rica medical tourism website and then I had a much respected meeting with one of our competitive Bloggers, who was getting ready to do the same.

A few months ago we wrote about Costa Rica medical tourism, and then another about  stem cell research, but now they have become such a hot items, so much so, that  conservative talk-show host Rush Limbaugh was flooded with emails when he answered a caller who was offering some type of medical insurance package, where treatments were in Costa Rica. Obviously, affordable health care is on the minds of all Americans, and Costa Rica is becoming the desire place for health and fitness care.

Cost for health care can be 70% cheaper than those in the U.S.

Medical tourism (also called medical travel, health tourism or global healthcare) is a term initially coined by travel agencies and the mass media to describe the rapidly-growing  practice of traveling across  borders to obtain health care. However, what is also becoming more, it also refers pejoratively to the practice of healthcare providers and doctors traveling internationally to deliver healthcare services.
